Emperor’s white tea: what it is and what its properties are

Not everyone knows that white tea is often called emperor tea, or emperor white tea. And not everyone knows that among the main tea families, it is also the one that was born most recently, about 200 years ago.
But what are its characteristics? What are the benefits of white tea? And are the properties of white tea really better than those of teas from other categories?
In this in-depth analysis we will try to summarize everything you need to know about white tea, focusing in particular on the benefits you could obtain from its regular intake. Let’s start with the latter!
Emperor’s white tea: properties and benefits
Much of the properties and benefits of emperor white tea are linked to the way in which its delicious leaves are obtained. In fact, thanks to a process of withering and drying, the producers of white tea manage to maintain the characteristics of the tea almost unchanged which, on the palate, appears characterized by a rather particular and delicate flavour.
As regards the benefits, this tea is rich in polyphenols and, as such, is a powerful antioxidant, thus lending a hand to our body in an attempt to counteract the action of free radicals, responsible – moreover – for aging.
Emperor white tea is also recognized as having proven antibacterial and antiviral properties, thus supporting the immune defenses. It is also rich in vitamin C and E. As such, it can counteract bad cholesterol in the blood and the appearance of cardiovascular complications.
Furthermore, drunk at the end of a meal, white tea can promote correct digestion and better functionality of intestinal transit.
How is white tea prepared?
The preparation of white tea is not very different from that of other teas. In particular, it is necessary to bring the water to a high temperature, up to 80 degrees, avoiding reaching the boiling point.
Then, you can measure out approximately two teaspoons of white tea leaves for each 200ml cup, and leave to steep for the number of minutes that is recommended by the manufacturer. The more obvious and stronger flavor will be appreciated by limiting the infusion period to 2-3 minutes, while longer tea infusion times may make the flavor less evident.
